Expanding the field of cooperation among civil society organizations in Croatia
Year: 2014
Donor: Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung
Project activities:
- series of researches and debates linking organizations in Zagreb and three Croatian regions - the strengthening of interregional cooperation will encompass three Croatian regions and include the identification of associates to help in conducting research and analysis of certain aspects of the structure of industry, employment and/or level of union organization.
- research of structure of beneficiaries of measures for youth employment - Internship is one of the measures of stimulating the employment of educated youth introduced in 2012, which had the goal of reducing youth unemployment and providing work experience for young graduates. It is obvious that the measure was unsuccessful, since the youth unemployment rate this year reached a historic high in Croatia (51,6%). Considering the fact that the monthly pay for young people who are the beneficiaries of this measure is HRK 1600 (almost half of gross minimum wage in Croatia), which is insufficient for self-support, the primary goal of the research is to examine the socio-economic background of these interns and the forms of sustenance during the length of the internship. Another goal is to gain insight into the quality of the acquired work experience and the extent to which this measure helped future employability, to examine the self-perception of the interns regarding their own position as interns, as well as their perception of the justice and usefulness of this measure.
- women's union school - the Women's union school will be held in three sessions between March and June 2014. About twenty interested unionists from three union confederations (Croatian Association of the Workers’ Trade Unions, Independent Croatian Unions and the Union of Autonomous Trade Unions of Croatia) and other interested women and men unionists will meet in three sessions, each session consisting of two days of workshops, seminars, discussions and panels, each in a single work week. Each session will be organized around a topic: introduction to feminism and labor movement, social reproduction and the specificities of women's union organizing
- New Union's union school - The New Union's union school aims at gathering and training about 50 shop stewards and members of the New Union (Novi sindikat), as well as representatives of the unions with which the New Union has established a stable cooperation. The training will be divided among three sessions held between February and June 2014. The first two sessions will be held in two smaller groups of about 25-30 participants, lasting three days each. The third session aims at gathering a more general membership on a plenary.
